The Rifle Team fires three volleys and comes to present arms as Taps is sounded. 

Once Taps has concluded the Flag folding ceremony will commence.  During this time a member of the Rifle Squad will gather three of the spent rounds and place them in a presentation container.  The remainder of the cartridges found will be placed into a black jewelers bag. They will then proceed to the edge of the service and wait while until the flag is presented.

The Flag will immediately be presented to the next of kin followed by the presentation of the three spent cartridges and the jewelers bag by the rifleman .

As the cartridges are presented the rifleman may say -- These 3 spent cartridges, which symbolize duty, honor and country, from the 3 volleys fired, in honor of your loved one.  Please accept these with our deepest condolences.  Here are the remaining cartridges for family and friends.
